Who is behind StapelGut and what we stand for.

Hello, I'm Jan Holtzmann – Your Contact Person at StapelGut

StapelGut is me, as a sole proprietor. My passion is books – and the idea that good content doesn't always have to cost full price. That's why I specialize in price-reduced new items, sourced from bookstore liquidations, remainders, and limited-time clearance sales.

Currently, you will find only books here – from novels and children's books to non-fiction and cookbooks. All titles are new, still in their original packaging, but may show minor storage wear (which is normal for remainders).

Our Current Focus: Books from a Bookstore Closure

In May 2026, I took the opportunity to acquire the complete new stock of a traditional bookstore that had permanently closed. These books are exempt from price fixing – meaning they are no longer subject to the fixed book price law, as it is a clearance sale (§ 7 para. 1 no. 5 BuchPrG).

This allows me to offer you these titles at significantly reduced prices – often 20–40% below the original fixed price. The sale is limited to 30 days (while supplies last). After that, this promotion ends.

Why doesn't StapelGut have a physical store?

I consciously work purely online, which saves costs that I pass directly on to you. My address in Wuppertal is solely a mailing address, not a retail store. Therefore, pickup or on-site viewing is unfortunately not possible. However, my prices are fair, and I can fully concentrate on shipping and your satisfaction.

What comes after the books?

For now, we are sticking with books. Should a similar opportunity arise for electronics or other products, I will consider it, but currently, StapelGut is a pure book shop with special offers from remaining stock.
